You'll find The Fernthai Volunteer Foundation located in Thailands most Easterly "Isaan" province - Ubon Ratchathani. Bordered by Laos to the East with its Mighty Mekong river just 25km away from our camp (a weekend sight-seeing trip escorted by the local forest rangers with give you an opportunity to take in this enthralling, untouched landscape) and Cambodia to the Southern border, you will find yourself in the heart of an area known as "The Emerald Triangle". An attempt to encourage tourism to the area by branding it in a similar way to the much more traveled and recognised "Golden Triangle" region of Northern Thailand. The Emerald Triangle, so named for its outstanding natural beauty and forested parks, is located around the intersection of 3 countries - Thailand, Laos & Cambodia. Unfortunately, usually bypassed by tourism the Thai region suffers similar poverty problems to that of its neighbours in Laos and Cambodia - hence our efforts within this region of Thailand.
