Our Committee
Unlike many volunteer organisations the Fernthai Volunteer Foundation ethos has always been that it is vitally important that those people we aim to help also be involved in the foundations running itself - after all, nobody knows their needs better than those people themselves. After much negotiating we have bought together a group of the most important people throughout the district to direct and advise in the running of the Foundation, thus making it an organisation truely for the people it serves.

Gamnan Buatong
"Gamnan" or Headman Buatong - The most important man for miles around! As leader of not only his own village but the entire sub-district of Naam Thaeng encompassing 14 villages. Gamnan is the perfect person to spearhead the Fernthai Volunteer Foundation as no-one is more in touch with the needs of his people than their leader himself. Gamnan and his family also take on the responsibility of housing Fernthai Volunteers.

Pee Tony
Pee Tony - our overseas co-ordinator. As one of Baan Nakhors original volunteers Tony has been living within this community for over 3 years. With our leader Gamnan at his side advising on all things Thai related Tony has driven the Fernthai Volunteer Foundation into what it is today. With his experience and contacts Tony is the vital link in bringing the volunteers to the community and the community to the volunteers.

Pu Yai Baan Som
Another extremely important man and great aquistion to our committee. Pu Yai Baan Som is village leader of the neighboring village of Baan Chat and takes responsibilty for all volunteering opportunities and homestay within his village.

Pu Chuai Nern
Assistant leader of the village of Baan Sang To and United Nations Development Program Representative, Pu Chuai Nern again takes responsibilty for opportunities not only within his village, but also alongside UNDP activities.

Pu Chuai Chit
Puu Chuai Chit as right hand man to Gamnan is accustomed to taking on responsibilty for the welfare of the inhabitants of Baan Nakhor and takes on the same role with our own volunteers whilst staying in the village. He also takes on accounting responsibilities.

Pu Chuai Noi
Another assistant to Gamnan in his day to day life and responsible for district safety and policing, Pu Chuai Noi is also responsible for all aspects of Fernthai safety and the safety of our volunteers during their stay - there really is no-one more experienced to be dealing with this important issue as the safety of all of our volunteers is paramount.

Pu Chuai Sommai
Pu Chuai Sommai, another village deputy, is responsibile for our overnight volunteer homestay. Usually our volunteers stay as a group within the headmans house, but they also have the opportunity to stay with a different family for one night, bringing extra funds to different households and spreading our volunteers into the community.

Pee Oh
Pee Oh, another United Nations Development Program Representative is acting Secretary to the Fernthai Volunteer Foundation and assistant to Pee Tony.

Pee Wat
Pee Wat is responsible for all issues during our Tree Planting Projects. As owner of a local nuresery his expertise and willingness to help is a great asset.

Pee Tanom
Pee Tanom is our committee representative from "Bpaa-Mai" the local forest rangers. Not only does he co-ordinate our environmental educational school programs - he and his rangers double up as our weekend escorts on our local excursions to the Mekong & National Parks.
